The Alchemist
25-year-old rapper/singer Big Mechoo hails from the 56th St NE neighborhood of DC. He started singing and writing music for the church when he was Christian homeschooled.
Since falling in love with music at the age of 10, Mechoo—whose name takes after Meek Mill touting, “And I be popping bottles in the club feelin like Meecho”—released streaming spectacles “Barbie” ft. Fat Trel & Rico Nasty, presented by Fatboy SSE, and then “Johnny Bravo,” solidifying his position in the DMV rap scene.
But he hasn’t yet reached his ceiling for success, as he aims to achieve Michael Jackson stardom with his pop-rap appeal, infused with Young Thug and Gunna-like influenced rap flows. Mechoo claims a Quality Control work ethic and aspires to join forces with QC Founders Coach K and Pee. Surely, Mechoo has no plans on stopping with his latest offering “Go,” produced by Kleb Records.
His newest track is called, “Groovy Night” and it will get you moving for sure. The track’s flow does resemble that of many Atlanta artists’. He utilizes autotune in a way tha really makes the track more interesting; it’s almost like he uses it as an instrument. The production of the track is simple, and leaves just enough room for the lyricism to stand out. Check out the track below.
