Ska punk reggae group Bumpin’ Uglies from Annapolis, MD have just released “Predator” on all major platforms with the help of NYC vocalist (and
ukulelist) Vana Liya. The song’s lyrics have a strong #metoo message speaking out against those who take advantage of others and engage in sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Vana’s vocals are joined with those of Bumpin’ Uglies frontman Brandon Hardesty in a uniquely woven way on a roller coaster of traditional and digital instrumentation with clashes of heavy breaking up some of the songs softer moments with the abruptness that typifies the traumatic and complex topic the song draws attention to.
