Yesterday, Eric Althoff shared another Groowroom Productions artist, Slanigiro Renguez and one of his recent releases, “Houston?” There’s lots of great music and community coming out of the Hyattsville, MD-based indie record label, including recent release by fellow Groowroom artist Three Man Soul Machine and their 3 song, EP 3 By 3.
The trio, consisting of Scott Schoem (organ), Frank Mitchell (sax), and Lee Durham (drums), has put together three very different songs, though all are rooted in funky soul-jazz. ‘Earl Place’ starts off the EP and ‘showcases the fact that 3MSM is always keeping the listener on its toes,” says drummer Lee Durham. ‘Shirley & Stanley’ “closes out 3 By 3 by taking a bit of a gospel turn.” We’ve decided to get right in the middle of things by featuring ‘One Inch Punch’, named for the martial arts move that made Bruce Lee famous, and is built on a slightly afrobeat groove. No matter which track becomes your personal favorite. You’re gonna be glad you got funky with Three Man Soul Machine!
