Nadie Nadia’s “our father’s body” Explores Shared Human Condition

DC-based blues and jazz artist Nadie Nadia explores the shared human condition in her debut single with Growroom Productions, “our father’s body.” In contrast to her other singles, “our father’s body” borrows largely from the folk genre. Fans of Melissa McClelland and Feist will identify with Nadie Nadia’s indie, free-spirited sound and crystal-clear vocals.

Named after French writer André Breton’s book “Nadja,” an iconic work of the surrealist movement, Nadie Nadia’s influences include Billie Holiday, Karen Dalton, and Mildred Bailey. No stranger to the music scene, Nadie Nadia wrote songs including “Circus” and Givenchy” while a part of the group 666 5^th Avenue, and also sang in the band SadLuck. Recently, she also appeared on Davyd Beach’s “Was,” chanting toward the end of the track, “this could go on forever, ever.”

Backed by dreamlike strummed ukulele, warbled pianos, and thick bass, Nadie Nadia reflects, “This has been a year.” The recurring motif of the song – “take me back, please” – is the type of lyric that gets stuck in your head. Whether it’s a desire to escape from the things that haunt us, like it is for Nadie Nadia, or feelings of nostalgia for simpler times, “our father’s body” offers a relevant message.
