Kid Travis’s new release “Nunca Otra Vez” (Never Again) ft. Microwave_T90 feels like a late-night beach party bonfire complete with friends, cold beers, and romance drama. “It feels empty in my chest, I need a place my heart can rest, Nunca Otra Vez.” But despite my personal perception of the feel of the song, the lyrics tell a very different story: realizing the woman who has caught his attention is worth the effort, but restrained by hesitation to pursue a relationship because of past deceptions, begging the potential recipient of his love not to let him down. My absolute favorite lyric in the song comes at the very end… “Don’t know why I’m so nervous, all the words in my mind got me thinking in cursive…” A brilliant way to describe a feeling we have mostly all felt.
Kid Travis is known for his eclectic, genre flexibility, and catchy tracks that make you want to grove along. This particular track reminds me of the mid-2000s chart-toppers like Fat Joe, Nelly, and Sean Paul. Never Again? More like, play it again. And you’re in luck!
