Anyone who’s been out in the DMV live electronic circuit knows Data Recovery Project, the Washington, D.C.-based synth duo consisting of C.P. Kush and Alchemical Records’ own Daniel Warren Hill all too well.
C.P. is famous for his self-made sampler-guitar, a true crowd pleaser, and Daniel, owner of Alchemical Records, needs no introduction! They channel all of your favorite and tastiest electronic movers and shakers of yesteryear, including but not limited to: Underworld, The Crystal Method, Daft Punk, and Orbital.
In their newest effort, “Too Bad (Sanity Assassin’s Immersive Mix),” Data Recovery Project has struck gold again. Try your best to not get lost in its cascading waterfalls of reverb-drenched synths, but it’s nearly impossible with how thoughtfully and beautifully mixed this treasure is.
Put it on at night while you’re driving through the DMV, or wherever you may reside, and remember a time where synths dominated the airwaves and life’s release at the end of the weekend was found in a sweaty warehouse amongst close friends and even closer beats.
