Toronto-based singer-songwriter Dani Kristina explores the power of human connection with her latest single “One Night Stand.” The emotional, dance-pop song about a brief romantic encounter with a stranger reminds listeners that even short-lived experiences can change us forever.
Dani Kristina explains, “One Night Stand” is about “a risky romantic experience that was cut short by borders closing, which reflects on how things may have progressed if things were different. It examines many ‘what ifs,” but as much as the song remains hopeful, it’s actually telling a sad story of someone who really falls for another person, but never gets to explore it fully.”
The award-winning songstress continues to push creative boundaries with her latest single, which is a strong addition to her eclectic genre-defying catalog. Musically, the song is driven by Dani Kristina’s polished, expressive vocals and soaring synths, with glimpses of her classical piano background. Visually, the accompanying music video expertly balances intimacy with gravitas.
True to form, “One Night Stand” shares an incredibly personal story, reminiscent of the singer’s last single “Gambler.” The song’s dynamics meticulously build tension and release it at just the right spot in Dani Kristina’s storytelling.
“I don’t really know if I could ever do this again,” Dani Kristina sings. “Never thought I’d wake up in a stranger’s bed.” The single reminds listeners of the freedom in vulnerability and exposing yourself to the thrill of spontaneity.
Dani Kristina co-wrote “One Night Stand” with her friend and guitarist Andrew Sporcic. The song was produced by Grammy-nominated, Juno-winning Trevor James Anderson.
