With his recent single, “never going back,” East Greenwich, Rhode Island-born and Washington, D.C.-based artist Nathan Nichipor offers a heartfelt, poignant exploration of what it means to let go of the things that hold us back and embrace new beginnings.
“never going back” appears on Nichipor’s latest album, Back In My Body, an acoustic folk pop collection with awakening at the heart. The song has a warm, authentic feel, and the pacing is fittingly unrushed, allowing audiences to contemplate areas for much-needed change in their own lives while journeying with Nichipor.
“The album Back In My Body isn’t so much personal as it is storytelling,” explains Nichipor, who started writing music when he was 8 years old. “However, it calls listeners to think about where they have come from and how much they have achieved feeling more happy and content, or back in their body, after harder times such as COVID.”
Fans of Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers, and Hozier will feel at home with Nathan Nichipor’s music.
Introspective lyrics, including “I’ve been running without crying for a mile now” and “I finally figured the way out of this old town,” are equally intimate and all-inclusive. “Seen this, done that – if only unattached,” Nichipor sings in the chorus,” prompting listeners to prioritize reaching for things that inspire them rather than settling for complacency.
Nichipor’s soothing poetic voice and compelling narrative in “never going back” find the rising talent at his best. The song’s message could not be more relevant in the wake of a pandemic-weary society: make the most of each moment and accept the reality that the things we leave behind will always be a part of us. The lifelong pursuit to getting back in our body and being fully present is essentially a journey to find ourselves, one that is well worth taking.
In addition to establishing his music career, Nichipor is a junior at Catholic University, where he studies musical theatre. He plans to release a demo version of his original two-act musical, All You Never Say, in the near future. Connect with Nathan Nichipor here, and stay tuned for Pt. 2 of Back In My Body, scheduled to drop late fall.
