Go check out 22 year old Chicago native Whethan this week at Soundcheck! This young DJ master started out as many do – playing around on Garage Band on his iPad, working on and recording music in his bedroom in high school. He released a remix of the track “XE3” by Mssingno, which drew the attention of the music industry around the world right to him, and began changing his narrative. When he was 16 years old, he was recognized as the youngest ever producer to release a record on Australian EDM label, Future Classic. Most high schoolers go dance with their friends and take nice pictures at their senior homecoming. Whethan previewed a bunch of unreleased tracks. Most high schooler seniors spend the second semester feeling restless and developing senioritis. Whethan went on tour with The Chainsmokers, with a short break to attend graduation. Most high schooler seniors catch the attention of a college. Whethan caught the attention of dubstep pioneer and OWSLA-founder Skrillex. Since then, he has been releasing hit after hit, collaborating with artists such as Oliver Tree, MAX, and Dua Lipa, touring the world, and appearing at music festivals. This tour, “Swimming With the Clouds”, will be one you don’t want to miss.
