On January 28, VASSY and GT_Ofice released their new collaborative single “Tuff,” an instant pick-me-up with self-empowerment at the heart. The high-energy, club-ready EDM track encourages listeners to reclaim their inner sense of worth regardless of the obstacles that stand in their way.
“TUFF is a song about no matter how hard things get, you’ve just got to just roll with the punches and keep it going,” explains VASSY. “I have always wanted to write a song using this expression ‘when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.’ You see in life, there will be highs, and there will be lows, and the music industry can tough. I think most people can relate to this song because everyone has their ups and downs, and sometimes you just need a little motivation to get through the tough times.”
VASSY notes that she was excited to work on “Tuff” with acclaimed DJ and producer GT_Ofice who hails from Ocean City, Maryland, and is now based in Manhattan. She describes their collaboration as “effortless,” buoyed by “a natural click and chemistry” in their creative approach. GT_Ofice, a former child actor, has performed in major NYC, Las Vegas, and Miami nightclubs and is best known for his compelling collaborations with emerging artists that shine a light on undiscovered talent.
The clear star of the show in “Tuff” is VASSY’s powerful, sultry voice. VASSY, a native Australian, is one of the most sought-after vocalists globally in dance music, and it’s not hard to understand why. “When they hit you hard / You gotta roll with the punches / When the going gets tough,” she belts out in the first few seconds of the song, soon joined by piano and pulsing house beats that eventually erupt into a bliss of pure positive energy.
And make no mistake, this dynamic duo is not be tested. Anyone who brings their negative energy will be shut down. “I march along to my own rhythm / I’ma do it my own way / They don’t got a thing to say / If they knock me down / Then I’ma get back up,” VASSY sings with the confidence of someone in tune with her own power and agency.
