Theredspirit’s latest release, ‘Tokyo,” is a bouncy, joyful indie pop tune.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Calif., Joseph Bautista is the brains behind Theredspirit. He started playing guitar as a youth to impress a girl he liked (which “totally backfired”), but led him to begin his writing and performing career. He began listening, scavenging the internet for indie songs, going to concerts, but had an “on and off relationship” with music. Until the pandemic, that is, when he put his head down and began releasing music.
“The past releases were very trial and error trying to gauge my audience,” said Bautista. ‘Tokyo” is a fun song, but the light, cheerful tone does not distract from the substance of the beat and tune.
“It’s a very happy tune. The lyrics are just about wanting to go to your dream vacation with your loved one. I feel like Tokyo and in general anywhere in Japan for me is the ultimate place to go to bond or celebrate and just to have fun.”
