On February 23, Mexico City-based multi-instrumentalist Klaatu Suuns released the official music video for his latest single, “Andreas,” ft. American duo Speck Joliet. The expansive, dreamy track transports audiences to a place of magic and wonder while exploring themes of nostalgia and repentance.
The beginning of the music video, directed by David S. Moses, finds Klaatu Suuns (aka Carlo Pureco) downcast and alone in the woods, with only his musical instruments for company. “It’s not my fault this time / I never thought it would crack on the line / If I fall in the sea / Would you come after me,” Klaatu Suuns sings in the opening lines of “Andreas.”
After packing up, he decides to seek out a new environment, which leads him to a lovely lush spot tucked away deep into the woods that is surrounded by bright-colored flowers and vegetation. “I never want to feel / Like I did that day / Take me to a place I know / Take me far away,” Klaatu Suuns sings in the refrain.
The setting is a magical place, reminiscent of the Garden of Eden, where nature comes to life in the form of a mythical flower being who Klaatu Suuns first hides from and later entreats. Perhaps the encounter is symbolic of confronting the past with courage and finding redemption in the path forward. The colorful, captivating visual paired with the psychedelic, synth-driven instrumentation is pure art that creates the sensation of being lost in a daydream. The video closes with Klaatu Suuns and the flower creature joining forces to play music together, both with spirits lifted.
Klaatu Suuns, a 21-year-old producer and artist, continues to win over audiences with his distinct sound and engaging presence. The artist’s 2020 album, recorded at his home studio, currently has more than 500K streams. Klaatu Suuns has been featured in Songmess, Ibero 90.9, Aire Libre, Revista Marvin, Rolling Stone, and more.
