Lithuanian hip-hop artist Lucid Kidd is back with a music video for his new single “Nothing Back.” The video, directed and edited by Michael Russell, utilizes cool visuals to complement the song’s energizing and easy-going beats.
In his hometown of Vilnius, Lithuania, Lucid Kidd discovered his passion for music around age 10 when he started taking guitar lessons and tinkering around on his grandmother’s big piano. He started making his own music at 13–at a mere 17 years old, Lucid Kidd has fully developed his unique brand of edgy, melodic, urban pop, and still draws influence from some of his favorite artists like XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, and The Kid LAROI.
“Nothing Back” is a cool, lighter rap song about distancing from shallow people who use their friends. The music video features Lucid Kidd rapping above a Gotham-like city; with flashes of pinks and greens, the video illustrates notables influences from his favorite artists.
“’Nothing Back’ is a song about the escape from betrayal. It depicts the vampires as these fake people that are always draining your energy and using you,” said the rapper. “The song expresses leaving all these vampires behind and finding your own path, because walking alone is better than being surrounded by fake people. The music video contains lots of colours which represent the escape from the greyness of fake people and becoming your own colourful individual.”
