Up and coming surf-rock artist j.paul has released his new single “Waiting 4 Me;” the track is j.paul’s second single, following his debut, “Untitled.” Utilizing his trusty drum machine, j.paul has written his latest track about passing the time while driving in and out of traffic on the way to work.
80’s inspired drums and plucky guitar sounds make this “Waiting 4 Me” the ultimate bedroom pop track. His voice is reminiscent of boy pablo, with his easy-going and cool tone. While the song has an ultimately uplifting sound and beat, it’s about the mundane waiting for the traffic to pass while going to work; the mentions of the wasting of youth is contrasted with images of young love like cherry-flavored chapstick, 2am driving, “Pet Sounds” by the Beach Boys, and the Big Apple.
Cause I’m missing you so bad
And your cherry flavored chapstick
While I’m wasting my youth
Stuck in Manhattan traffic
