Southern California-based quartet, The Guest Room, collaborate with Adison Rice on their new release, “Destination.” This is the band’s second collaboration with Rice, following their last single, “Take Your Time.” “Destination” is a groovy, neo-soul track that reminds its listeners that “summer fun” isn’t all that fun without good friends.
The Guest Room epitomizes the atypical-genre of today’s fast-changing West Coast music scene; while they can be classified as Neo-soul, Alternative R&B, and Indie Pop, the four childhood friends have developed a distinctive sound of their own rooted in their eclectic musical influences.
While the track’s sound is addictive by itself, one of the lures of “Destination” is its message. It emphasizes how important the people you surround yourself with are.
“Destination is a perfect summer anthem that invites the listener to “get up and go” (safely of course). While on its face, “Destination” can be taken as a simple song about traveling and exploring, it’s also something a little deeper; it’s a declaration that no matter what you do, or where you go, the only thing that matters is who you’ve surrounded yourself with.”
