Chester Doom’s debut album “Masks” is grunge and angsty, yet musically sophisticated.
Chester Doom describes themselves as “a group of diehard rockers from Canada’s East Coast, who feel that reports of rock & roll’s death have been greatly exaggerated.” Formed of rhythm guitarist Patrick Blackie, keyboardist Dave Mackenzie, lead guitarist Kellan Menhennett, brothers Glenn Arseneau (bass) and Peter Arseneau (drums), and vocalist Josh Best, the group is “equal parts punk attitude and southern rock swagger.”
Their album, released June 17, draws inspiration from classic rock bands through the ages, especially the grunge of the 90s. One standout track is Monsoon, their debut single, which creates a hard rockin’ foundation that the album was built upon.
Fans of Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, or Queens of the Stone Age should check out this album.
