New Zealand-based metal guitarist, classical pianist, and singer-songwriter Leah Hinton (also known as Murmur Tooth) is teaming up with the house DJ and producer Lars Moston for the new single “Antidote”. The collaboration decidedly leans more towards the pop end of the spectrum but manages to hang on to the sum of its parts as a yearning energy radiates through the electronic house beats.
The unlikely duo home on romantic, end-of-summer vibes for this song as the chill composition feels airy and refreshing. Each note feels warm and full of nostalgia leaning on the danceability of the backbeat to drive a strong surge of joy to the forefront. As Hinton offers up breathy vocals that suspend in time and space, Moston effortlessly keeps the party going.
As the follow-up to their remix of Claptone’s “Beautiful” and the first single from their collaborative upcoming album, this is a song that treads interesting sonic ground. Time will tell whether Moston holds the reigns on the music compositions, or if some of Murmur Tooth’s metal influences will come forward. Either way, this hybrid collaboration makes for something new and interesting that will surely spawn an eclectic album with plenty of heart and soul to go around.

His primary work as an artist is with his performing collective, Polymath Performance Project, through which he makes interdisciplinary performance art that centers tap dance as the primary medium of expression and research. He also currently plays rhythm guitar for the Charleston-based punk band, Anergy, and releases music as a solo artist under the name Nox Eterna.
