Mexico-based bedroom pop artist Bratty (Jenny Juárez) recently shared her new single, “¿Y Cómo? (feat. Hinds)”, along with an announcement for her upcoming release, Es mi fiesta y si quiero hago un EP, eagerly expected Jan. 5.
Moving on from someone who used to be a big part of your life is not easy. Bratty’s gentle voice encapsulates these complicated emotions in this bedroom pop song that is catchy and light, yet still emotional. She expresses how she is unsure of what lies ahead: “¿Y cómo, y qué voy a hacer?” she asks – “And how am I going to do without you?”.
Juárez started the song when she was in Spain in 2021. Spanish indie rock band Hinds was the perfect addition to provide a familiar sense of feminine camaraderie, as they are certainly an energy powerhouse. “The opportunity arose to have a session with Hinds and I showed them this idea, which they loved and we finished writing it together,” Juárez said. “They added their garage style and ended up enchanting me. I’ve admired their group a lot since it is one of the few led by girls who play their own music.”
Her soon to be released EP is set to feature a plethora of guest artists like Metronomy, Yawners, Depresión Sonora, Álvaro Díaz, NSQK y Méne, and Cariño: “It’s my birthday party and the collaborators are my guests. A celebration of music,” she says.
