Based in Los Angeles, California, the Los Angeles-based band Unfamiliar Things travels the musical world of contemporary indie music with soothing musical tendencies. Matt Levy’s “unfamiliar,” yet dynamic vocals sit beautifully on top of the band’s most contemporary track to date as Unfamiliar Things launches a new indie-rock single, “Most People.”
This single vivifies joy and stirs reflections through its exciting sounds, some of which are reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie and Vampire Weekend. Notably, ‘Most People’ is a song of authenticity and self-reflection. The intimately crafted track was recorded between Matt’s bedroom, a cabin in Big Bear, and Robby Krieger’s (founding member of The Doors) studio.
When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Matt shared: “I haven’t heard many whimsical melodies and upbeat songs about being lost and finding your path. ‘Most People’ fills that void.”
“Most People” wastes no time getting to the heart of the matter, both musically and lyrically. Matt Levy dives right into musings about seeing the world through a singular lens and what experiences one faces that either forces them to change their perspective, or hold fast to a fanciful, but more ideal viewpoint.
‘Most People’ follows on from two acoustic releases in the fall of 2022 and precedes their full debut LP which is set for release in the Spring of 2023.

He is best known as the frontman for Washington DC area Alternative Rock band YellowTieGuy, as co-founder of Capitol Groove Collective, and increasing the exposure of artists on a global scale through his work with Alchemical Records.
