CLOUDxCITY may be an unlikely pairing– an East coast nomad and a West coast poet– but their sound couldn’t be more cohesive.
The energetic Enjel (singer/songwriter/producer) and enigmatic TAS (producer/DJ/songwriter) came together in late 2019. Before this, however, Enjel spent years “bouncing from city to city working different music industry jobs”, with “one near-death experience”, until ultimately settling in LA as a solo artist, while TAS dipped his toe into cinema and directing before settling in as a producer and songwriter.
“Individually they both wrote, produced, and engineered for notable artists like Selena Gomez, Meg Thee Stallion, the Ying Yang Twins, Cee-Lo Green, YG, Zedd, Eminem, Quavo, Bahari, and more.”
The duo was born out of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the pair had little else to do. Their sound is a fusion of hip-hop, electronic, and dark pop that they call “existential hip-hop”. They describe themselves as “mysterious but not brazen, futuristic but not detached, provocative yet still welcoming and relatable.”
CLOUDxCITY’s latest track, ‘Better Than Me’, is a spunky track for all the brokenhearted. Though softer than their previous tracks, this cool track is perfect for all the lonely hearts on Valentine’s Day.
“‘Better Than Me’ is a confident post breakup love/hate letter to all our exes,” they explain.
