After listening to Kronedge’s self-titled album, which was released on March 3, 2023, we are impressed. They produce Bangla rock songs that transcend multiple genres. Often complex and technical in nature, their songs have garnered accolades from many, which only seemed to have energized and inspired the band even more.
Kronedge is a rock band based out of Washington, D.C. and have been around since 2016. They already have six singles and a live EP.
Their latest album is chocked full of pulse-raising numbers such as ‘Kop’ and ‘Gono-Rajtontro’ and a more chill side such as ‘Ke Dake’, which starts with the sound of the ocean. You will enjoy haunting guitar work, poignant lyrics (in Bangla) about social injustice, punchy basswork, Armeen Musa and Ghashphoring Choir, and a kaleidoscope of different styles as the band takes you through a journey of music written by each one of the band members.
Interesting to note, Bangla bands, outside of Bangladesh, mostly play cover songs. That is because of the demand of the audience. Can anyone blame them though? That is their way of connecting with the motherland. What Kronedge is doing is unique. With the album, shows, even their professional looking website, the band has made a bold statement. After many years of hard work, it is safe to say, they have finally arrived.
