Happy Halloween, everyone! Our award-winning DMV friend, Jarreau Williams released a creepy music video for his single inspired by his own dark journey with mental health, “Fear” produced by frequent collaborator, the Nashville-based Devin Spear (Exhale Recording) on this spooky Friday the 13th.
Not only is this a perfect month to release a catchy and lyrically ominous tune because of Halloween and Friday the 13th, but World Mental Health Day took place on October 10th. The timing could not have been more perfect for a song about your deepest and darkest fears eating you alive. “FEAR” is a self reflective, electric, analytic composition of Pop, Rock, and R&B inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and Rob Zombie’s “Living Dead Girl”. Williams’ vocals display range and energy as the track builds to a dramatic finish.
Throughout the video, Williams personifies a fear demon and the victim. Perhaps the most relatable part of the video is when he backs into a corner cowering in terror while singing “Are you good enough?// Do you have what it takes?// Got you questioning every move that you make.” Music (and other entertainment) industry professionals and hopefuls probably know this feeling all too well. I know I do. People are constantly told that they are too young or too old, they need to be realistic, and asking what their “real jobs” are or what the back up plan is.
“FEAR” is available now on major streaming platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music so you can stay in the Halloween spirit year round.
