B.A.D.A Drops a Statement about Injustice With “Sound of Violence”
While trying to stand out in the overpopulated electronic-indie-pop scene is an ambitious mission.
This is how the duo of NY/LA based artist/producer/multi-instrumentalist Carey Clayton and brazilian artists/producer Pedro Cesario created B.A.D.A.
The NPR-featured self-produced trilingual visual album was recorded throughout 2019 in a cabin in Woodstock NY, the Abbey Road studios in London by the hands of John Barret (James Bay, Daniel Ceaser, George Ezra) – where features of fellow musicians Emmavie, Rayon and the British Youth Choir were added – and then finished in Clayton`s bedroom in Greenpoint Brooklyn, with mixings by Luke Moelman (synth pop duo Great Goof Fine Ok) and masterings by Chris Gheringuer (Lizzo, Janele Monale, Harry Styles).
“We had the opportunity to collaborate with amazing people, but 98% of the recording process happened in isolation” says Pedro.
Their newest track is called “Sounds of Violence” and it has some amazing vocals to really get the listener in their feels. The song makes you really think about the state of the world currently. It combines both psychedelic elements with some funk. Check out the track below.
Haunter Wants to “Risk it All”
Haunter is a band that has recently caught our attention. They race their roots back to late 2016. Enoma Asowata (guitars/synths) had met producer/songwriter Tyler Smyth (I Prevail, Falling In Reverse, Blessthefall) as so many musicians in the pop world of today do – while pursuing DIY projects during the Warped Tour era. The duo clicked musically, and after several months of talks, Enoma sent Tyler some rough demos of songs he had written. The idea behind all this was to do something different, challenging, and brutally honest. “The idea of music leaving this lasting impression always fascinated me. You can always remember why your favorite song hits close to home or why that song brings you to tears. The name HAUNTER fits us perfectly, because I wanted to write music that lasted and haunted you in a way.” states Asowata
Wes Anderson Brings “Red Cup Dub” to Help Pick Your Head Up
Wes Anderson is an artist that we just recently learned of. He has been playing guitar for over 20 years, handling lead guitar duties for the Chicago band Shanghai Superstars (2010 – 2012), Fiction 20 Down (2012 – 2015), Big Infinite (2015 – 2018 ), and now finally branching out on his own venture. Through previous bands, he’s toured the country, won Maryland’s Breakout Artist of the Year, charted on iTunes, released 1 LP, 1 Live Album, 1 EP, 1 Mixtape, 4 singles, had one single become a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition, and received endorsements from Dean
Markley Strings and Paul Reed Smith Guitars.
As time has passed, the itch to carve his own path and put out the music he’s always wanted to became irresistible. Something 100% true to his style and diverse taste in music. With that, he is now releasing singles under his own name covering a wide range of styles and featuring talented guest musicians on each track. Every song starts with just a guitar and Wes. Through collaborations, the songs then take on a new life of its own, and have included P-Nut (311), Lyrics Born, Ballyhoo!, and Kosha Dillz.
His newest track is called, “Red Cup Dub” and it has an interesting feel to it that combines both reggae, and some elements of EDM. It also features ¡MAYDAY! and Trey Miller. The hook is what stands out to us the most, as it rings, “I just need my red cup, red cup, when I’m fed up, fed up, it’s the only thing that’s gonna pick my head up, head up.” Check out the track below.
Andrew Amurrio is a “VIP”
Andrew Amurrio is an artist that was born in Washington DC from Latin American parents. A first Generation musician whose sound is intertwined in Andean heritage. His newest track “VIP” will get you out of your seat and dancing. It has a classic Latin American feel in its rhythm that is complemented with the Andrew’s impressive vocals. When asked about the song, Andrew says, “This song is about pushing the limits as a human being and breaking out of your shell, all through the eyes of urban Hispanic youth.” Check out the track below.
ARIA Drops New Banger, “PRETTY WIT IT”
ARIA is a 21-year old rapper, songwriter and producer from Washington, D.C that we have been learning a lot about recently. He is a student at American University, and he turned down multiple scholarship offers so that he was able to focus on music while going to school. In the last 12 months, ARIA’s releases amassed more than 30 million cumulative streams across digital platforms; going viral on Global Shazam, Apple, iTunes and Deezer charts, and hitting the #1 spot on Hype Machine.
He is back with his newest track, PRETTY WIT IT” and we believe that he is developing his own personal sound more and more with each track. The beat keeps that” bouncy” club like feel that we’ve learned to expect in each of Aria’s tracks. The lyricism is extremely memorable as he utilizes a vocal flow similar to Logic. badmonsham Says Their Ain’t No “Doubt in my Mind”
badmonsham is an artist that has really been catching our attention recently. He is from Davenport, FL – a small town that plays a large role in his music. Since he was very young, poetry and lyricism have played a very large role in Sham’s life. Starting his music career in high school, he combined his love for words with his newfound ability to perform, and launched a trajectory that eventually led him to working with the likes of BabyJake, and moving to LA to pursue his dreams. He only has 3 songs out, but has over 200,000 streams just on those 3 songs.
Premiere: Howard Rose and Robbie Cavanagh are Sending Us All “Greetings from Paradise”
Howard Rose and Robbie Cavanagh are two artists from the U.K. that have been gaining a lot of popularity in recent times. While Howard draws influences from James Brown, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles, Robbie Cavanagh draws influences from James Taylor, John Mayer and Elton John, and when the two collaborate it creates a very unique overall feel that creates a feeling of peace.
The pair recently worked together on a track called, “Greetings from Paradise” which is actually their first release to come from Nova Records, and is the result of a lockdown collaboration. We are excited to have the opportunity to premiere this track. The two initially did not intend to write a ‘lockdown song’ so they actually decided to write about the opposite, which is where the name “Greetings from Paradise” actually came from. Rose says, “the song alludes to ‘perceived blessings of a lockdown misspent. An opportunity to work, uninterrupted on what you were put on the earth to do, and how that can affect you. How something seemingly blissful can turn to the mundane given enough time.” We actually had the opportunity to interview both Rose and Cavanagh, which you can check out some of their answers on our website.
