DMV-based band ACTORS have released their new album “Acts of Worship;” the album brings the best of 80s New Wave and modern post punk together in an innovative and genre-transforming way.
The four-person band from Vancouver has been making music together for about a decade; they debuted with their single “P T L (Post Traumatic Love)” in 2012. They have more recently released the EP “Reanimated” this year.
Their critically acclaimed sophomore album, “Acts of Worship” is illuminated with notable features from New Wave classics, synth pop sounds, and post punk. Through their meticulous perfecting of the sound with new takes on through energizing composition, the band transforms sounds that were popularized in the past.
“Love U More ” is the first track on the album, and is exemplary of the way ACTORS utilize and add to the post punk and New Wave genres. The song begins the experience by using electric guitar that sounds reminiscent of Arctic Monkeys’ AM, along with pounding synths that call back to popular songs from The Cure.
