Following the releases of “Softie” (placed in rotation at MTVU to over 9 million students worldwide), and “Romantic” (featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Indie playlist) earlier this year, Alt-Pop / Indie-Pop recording artist Beck Pete releases “April Fools in February” along with Part One of her EP Scared of Everything on Wilder Records.
“April Fools in February” is a playful, tongue-in-cheek song about coming to the realization that it takes more than love to keep a relationship together. Drawing from her own experiences, Pete modeled the song after a long-distance relationship in which Pete felt she had found ‘the one,’ but discovered after reuniting in person that the connection had soured. Beck finds catharsis in adding doses of humor to her candid lyrics in an adamant effort to move beyond the negative experiences.

An engaging West coast audience has played a significant part in growing Beck Pete’s global fanbase. In addition to her 2018 single, “Gently Break It” having been featured on Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” Pete’s bold storytelling continues to attract recognition within the industry as quickly as it attracts new listeners.
Directed and edited by Zoé Kraft and Beck Pete, the music video for “April Fools in February” transforms Pete into another person; an experience she feels is common for those facing heartbreak head-on. What should be a pleasant and exciting stay at a fancy hotel becomes instead the backdrop for managing darker emotions, juxtaposing the dramatic with comedy.
