Warped Tour alumni Ben DeHan encourages listeners to pursue their vision for life on their own terms in his latest single, “The Dream” from his forthcoming EP, Blank Check produced by Sam Pura of State Champs and Story So Far fame.
Ben DeHan, former frontman for 2008 Warped Tour pop-punk band American Diary, releases “The Dream,” the second single from his forthcoming EP, Blank Check, produced by Sam Pura (State Champs, The Story So Far). Melodically and tonally like Weezer, with relatable lyrics like Blink 182, “The Dream” is sung from the perspective that success, much like happiness, is an individual pursuit, and describes how the picture that is painted by others very rarely lives up to its promise. DeHan’s message to pursue your dream on your own terms draws from his own personal journey, including his meteoric rise to the public eye in American Diary, his days pushing paper in the corporate world, and his re-commitment to writing, releasing, and performing music.
“If Blink 182 and Weezer were experiencing their rise today, these are the kinds of songs they would be writing,” says DeHan.

After giving up on music for almost a decade during which Ben struggled with extreme depression and suicidal thoughts, and after meeting fiancé and cellist Lauren White, Ben made the decision that he had enough pain and urgency to develop a “this or nothing mentality” which catapulted him into his recent and explosive return on the scene! Together, this dynamic couple is writing and recording new music, hitting the road together, and are just weeks away from their wedding to take place on September 23, 2022.
AJ Perdomo and DeHan think listeners will be encouraged by the idea that, in spite of the success they have experienced, there are other artists they look up to and whose careers they also admire; there are still more artistic obstacles to overcome, with DeHan commenting, “I think this song will be just as meaningful to other musicians as it will be for fans.”
