Washington DC-based Brandin St. Clair is back with the music video for her fourth single, “Kiss My A$$.” At the intersection of funk and pop, “Kiss My A$S” is an ubeat and groovy, no-BS hot girl anthem.
At 16, Brandin started her musical career when she started training as a professional vocalist. Being influenced by such artists as Sade, Daft Punk, Astrud Gilberto, Perfume, Stevie Nicks, and Gorillaz, the singer/songwriter wants to use her musical ability to write love songs that everyone can relate to.
Besides being a catchy and dance-able pop song, “Kiss My A$$” shows off some of Brandin St. Clair’s best musical abilities. Her vocals are incredibly unique and the track utilizes her lower tone. The single’s production quality is also impressive; between the laid-back beat and cool bass line, “Kiss My A$$” truly illustrates the best of the pop and funk genres.
The song also conveys Brandin’s songwriting ability; she is able to write about true confidence and being unconcerned of what other people may think with more depth. The song nails its message: the only important opinion about yourself is your own.
