Move out the way for Caitlin Min Fa, our latest pop-ballad diva. Known in the Melbourne pop scene, and charting on the Triple J Unearthed Pop Charts, Caitlin’s single “Work In Progress” slaps of Jo-Jo and Demi Lovato with a Rachel Platten positive message. Positive message embodies Caitlin’s whole vibe. Her mission is to write and release songs that uplift, and encourage her listeners to ‘figure out who you are’.
On “Work In Progress” Caitlin starts by singing “looking in the mirror; I don’t know who I am” following with notions of not fitting in and searching for answers and a change. Whereas some pop-ballads of a similar ilk may have a pay off in the end of saying ‘I’ve won’ or ‘I’m better now than when we started this song’, Caitlin leaves it as ‘it’s ok to be where you’re at as long as you’re moving forward’ which is a refreshing change from the often-aggrandized unrealities of some pop writing. “I’m going through the motions holding on to where I’m going. I’m a work in progress.” Beautifully crafted, and relatable, I look forward to hearing more from Caitlin Min Fa.
