There is something intoxicating about the opening guitar riff of “The Fire,” the latest single from Norwegian pop rockers, Point. There’s something epic about it as the light strings and synthesizers swell in the background.
Once we arrive at the first verse, we move into more recognizable pop rock territory with breathy vocals over a strumming acoustic guitar that are reminiscent of acts like Ed Sheeran. As the bass and drums gradually feed in, you can feel the rush of the chorus as it hurtles through cascading melodies.
Each time we return to the opening guitar riff, it becomes more fully formed with full instrumentation gradually adding in until it becomes clear that the song is meant to grow and burn like the title infers: “I know the fire has been lit / I know it burns inside of us.”
Writing about the underlying message, the band writes, “The song is about that everyone can achieve whatever they want in life. But it requires that you find an inner force or an ‘inner flame’ to be able to motivate yourself to step out of your comfort zone and work for what you want. How far are you willing to go to achieve your goals and dreams?”
Whether you are here for an inspirational message or just looking to try out something new, Point offers something sweepingly uplifting with this new song that has a potent and infectious energy.
