DeSanguashington is a Colombian-American band located in Washington D.C. that creates a fusion of traditional Colombian folk music with rock and pop. The band has just released the official music video for “Yo Viajo Sola,” “a song written for those women who love traveling alone and who wish to continue doing it without concerns for safety,” says vocalist Velu Ochoa. In English, the song would aptly be titled “I Travel Alone,” and the lyrics describe and inspire freedom as well as independence. “Yo Viajo Sola” is the third video from their debut EP Viajero, which released in March and is available now on all major platforms.
This freshman offering from these experienced performers was followed by a submission to Tiny Desk hosted by Bob Boilen of NPR Music’s All Songs Considered, as well as a tremendous performance at internationally acclaimed Millennium Stage at The John F. Kennedy Center. Since then, DeSanguashington has been featured on community-based public broadcasting station,WETA Arts, serving the greater Washington D.C. area.
The band is continuing to develop and release additional music videos that contribute to the helping visualize the remaining songs from Viajero. All videos so far have been at least partially directed or edited by DeSangaushington, maintaining a consistent look, and an English translation of lyrics. sung in Spanish.
