DMV jazz singer Sharon Rae North is making her headlining debut at D.C.’s Blues Alley on May 3.
National Billboard-charting, Northern Virginia-based jazz singer Sharon Rae North is making her headlining debut at D.C.’s own Blues Alley on May 3, and could not be more excited.
She does not take the venue’s rich history lightly: “At my house, I have this wall that has pictures of some of the artists that I absolutely love to listen to, including Miss Nancy Wilson,” she says in a video posted to social media. “Now you may not know this, but years ago, Nancy performed at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C. Well, guess what? I’m going to be at Blues Alley on May 3. I have two shows, 7 o’clock and 9 o’clock, and I absolutely would love to see you in the house, so please come out.”
North is known for her enchantingly smooth voice and impressive range, as well as captivating audiences throughout the United States and internationally with her combination of seriousness and playfulness during shows – “I’m a vocalist, plain and simple. It’s not just what I do. It’s who I am.” North has previously performed at Blues Alley as a guest vocalist for Patrick Lamb, but this will be her first time doing it solo. “I’m doing songs from all my projects, from Silhouette to Sincerely Yours to The Way You Make Me Feel,” she says. “This is gonna be epic, so you don’t want to miss it.”
