Singer-songwriter Eli Lev is taking over Jammin Java this week for his very own album release party, and everyone is invited! This Silver Spring, MD native spent three years teaching on the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona, learning indigenous traditions which inspired his Four Directions project. Just as each cardinal direction holds unique characteristics in the Navajo tradition, so do each of the albums in this special project. Now, Eli has finally released the last installment – “True North” which you can find on Spotify. The northern direction in Navajo belief is that of the black night, of reflection, of quietude, of completion, and the stage where we get the highest amount of understanding from events and actions. Eli’s musical translation of this is a series of songs written throughout his musical career, culminating in a masterpiece which embraces the spirit of this journey and may very well be his best work yet.
