DMV-based Americana folk singer, songwriter, and bandleader Eli Waltz and his band are releasing an EP called The Enemy, and are hosting a vinyl release show at The Miracle Theatre on Saturday, July 1.
Waltz is known for the passion you can hear in his vocals and honest lyrics among his down-to-earth fingerpicking folk style. His music melds genres such as psychedelic folk rock with influences like traditional Chinese folk and classical music, producing a one-of-a-kind sound. Recent releases include singles filled with emotion “Fabric”, “Tibetan Bones”, and “Writer’s Block”, which is accompanied by an impressive stop-motion video: “Hundreds of man hours, dozens of back aches, and a couple friendly arguments later, my brother and I managed to create a one-of-a-kind stop motion production,” Waltz says. “‘Writer’s Block’ is about creativity for creativity’s sake, and the music video lives up to the song’s message!” The Enemy is highly awaited after his EP Burning Moonlight was released on March 10.
After living and performing in Beijing for a while, Waltz is settled in the DMV and performs regularly throughout the area. Find tickets to the show here, which will be opened by Nim and Umami House. “This will be the last time to catch me with the full band for a while, so you don’t want to miss out,” Waltz says. It is “sure to be a rocking good time of foot-stomping and heart-string-pulling.”
