Massachusetts native Eva Snyder has released her first single of 2022, “boy, cry.” The pop-acoustic tune is reminiscent of other popular singer-songwriters, like Julia Michaels and Maren Morris.
Snyder began playing music early in life, as she taught herself guitar and relocated to San Francisco, and then Nashville. Her influences from both the East and West coast are very apparent in her discography.
The sixth single from Snyder is a very emotional and vulnerable piece inspired from her own relationship struggles. The steady guitar and background beats pick the song up and really transform it into a true pop single. The song also thematically brings up the stigma surrounding masculinity and lack of emotion.
“We were doing long distance, and it just wasn’t working out,” said Snyder about the inspiration for her single. “We were on the phone for hours saying goodbye, and I was a mess of tears and he wasn’t…but I knew he wanted to be and was just holding it in…seemingly for me. I didn’t write this song until a few years later, but when I did, it poured out. The message is rooted in giving space for men to be emotional if they need to be.”
Fans of Halsey, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Rodrigo should listen to Snyder’s new single, “boy, cry.” The single is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp.
