For fans of artists like Anathema, Katatonia, and Evan’s Blue that may be unaware of the rich and emotive musical storytelling provided by Kenton Place, their latest release, “Haley’s Comet,” will be the perfect track to make this introduction.
“Haley’s Comet” is the 3rd track from Kenton Place’s 2022 EP, “Terminal,” but according to the band, “Haley’s Comet” is our most important song. It was the first true song we wrote, and once we played it through, we said, ‘Okay yeah…this is it.” The song highlights the band’s alternative rock, post-grunge influences, which they represent fully throughout their many releases, and is complete with both male and female vocals weaving from unison to harmony as well as searing guitar leads.
Hailing from Houston, TX, Kenton Place features childhood friends vocalist/guitarist Logan Smalley (Smalls), drummer Noe Hernandez (Fez), lead guitarist Roque Techera (Rock, the hero), and bass guitarist Curtis Bird (Mr. Bird). Fans will appreciate the band’s unanimous decision to name the band around the location that provided them with so many childhood memories and helped to inspire this organic project. Kenton Place launched their music on digital platforms in 2019 with the release of their debut single, “Pride Never Lasts,” having since grown a significant following, evidenced by “Haley’s Comet” being streamed thousands of times and featured on dozens of international radio stations.
