Pop singer-songwriter Jenny Kern has released her third single of 2022, “I Should Lose You.” Following her last single, “Feel It Again,” “I Should Lose You” transforms the tiredness of an old, burnt-out relationship into an club anthem, perfect for any party or dance night.
Produced by Carson Cody (Valley, joan, Evie Irie) and Jenny Kern, the Brooklyn-based artist’s new single was mixed by Matt Huber (Valley, Nightly, flor) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (Carrie Underwood, David Bowie, Shawn Mendes).
The EDM pop single contemplates the difficult decision of ending a relationship when the spark goes out. The electric guitar coming in at the chorus brings the song to a lighter, more fun place; it is reminiscent of The 1975’s “Somebody Else.”
“This song is about falling out of love with someone and realizing you need to let them go,” wrote Kern. “It’s easy to realize that you no longer have feelings for someone but it’s the intrinsic difficulty of hurting them is what makes it so hard. You can be in a relationship, feel a shift and know something isn’t right anymore but the second you say it out loud it’s in the open. You can’t take it back. The truth is, the best solution is to rip off the band aid and move on. That’s what I had to do.”
