Los Angeles based artist JMSEY has released the music video for his new single “Lil While.” This is JMSEY’s first single of the year after finishing off 2021 with an EP: “JMSEY on Audiotree Live.”
JMSEY’s influences and unique sound as an artist are mainly attributed to his English/American upbringing. A combination of heavy, grungy British pop along with American alternative bands clearly impacts his current sound and overall energy. As a member of Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers (NPR’s Tiny Desk, in Billboard, and Rolling Stone), JMSEY’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist does not go unnoticed. As a solo artist, his work has been featured on Audiotree TV, Jam in the Van, and Paste Magazine.
“Lil While” is an incredible kick-off to the year, as it elicits both the relaxed sound of indie-pop and the fast-paced, high energy of rock. The beginning comes off cool, with JMSEY’s vocals taking the driver’s seat of the song. The guitar during the bridge takes over, putting the rock in indie rock and contrasting from the rest of the easy-going sound the beginning of the song produces.
In collaboration with Columinati Films, JMSEY’s music video for the single emphasizes its laid-back nature; JMSEY himself is featured, spending the entirety of the video trying to get away from his partner and trying to get a little time to himself for once.
“Just a little space, just a little time just to get a lil wiser / Puppy love got me spring aint gonna lie to ya, I’ll take my chances on this roundabout / Or maybe I should take my time, and take a lil while.”
