Richmond, Va.-based singer/songwriter Keely Burn announces her latest album, “Not My Masterpiece,” to be released later this month. Burn has released two EPs prior to this project: “Lightning Eyes” in 2015 and “I’ve Never Been More Awake” in 2019.
Although she considers herself an introvert, Burn has dreamt of performing for packed houses since she was a teenager. She thinks that her teen self, “would be amazed at where I am now.” Four of the songs on the album were written by Burn as a teenager, connecting this album to her roots and allowing her to realize a dream she has held for a long time.
While dipping into many genres, “Not My Masterpiece” appeals to fans of eclectic pop like Regina Spektor for its quirky, tounge-in-cheek humorous songs. She describes one song as “Billie-Eilish-on-Zoloft”, indicating the heartfelt lyrics coupled with upbeat indie pop.
The album makes its debut on June 25, 2021. Check out the video for Keely’s lead single “Masterpiece.”
