If you’re looking for an uplifting, sweet love song, check out “Boy” by KLARK. The wholesome lyrics pair perfectly with the simple, yet meaningful, melodies.
Kevin Xiong considers himself a multi-media artist; his canvases are sound, paint, film, and digital photography. His music- released under the pseudonym KLARK- addresses topics that are important to him, such as AAPI racism and queer love. He made his musical debut in 2018 with his song “88,” then released a series of singles in 2020. His latest releases, “Boy” and “Voodoo,” dropped in mid-2021.
Xiong describes his song as bouncing between two mindsets: one that longs for a committed relationship, and one that just wants to have fun.
“”Boy” plays with the idea of marriage in the context of a queer relationship. It’s about how I once rejected the institution (“pride’s not my vibe / there’s much more to life than marriage rights”) –– only to then realize that great joy can come from committed partnership (“throw a ring on it and / be my boy”),” said Xiong.
Fans of Khalid or Charlie Puth should check out the music of KLARK. The infectious energy and positive messages make his songs a pleasure to listen to, and we can’t wait to see where KLARK goes.
