Five-piece dreamy jazzy synth-rock group, Knovo ends 2020 like its Summer 1981 with the release of retro looking, sounding, and feeling, “Dizzy Kong.” While the song wasn’t exactly programmed on a vintage Game Boy, it all was retrofitted into an 8-bit music video by pixel artist and animator, Mikey Arias. Fronted by Gena Photiadis and TJ Turqman, Knovo offers a unique sound that blend traditional and nontraditional musical elements stemming from the band members’ diverse backgrounds. The funky vibes of “Dizzy Kong” are accented by drummer Matt Tredwell, guitarist Nikhel Sus, and the lyrics and crystalline vocal styling of Tula Pisano. The track was engineered by Tonal Park (Takoma Park, MD) staff recording and mix engineer Don Godwin and produced by NYC area musicians and producers Graham Doby & Dylan Kaminkow.
