Martin Luke Brown releases his second song of 2023 with the appropriate response to someone who commits to seeing the sunnier side of life regardless of difficult circumstances, “**it gets better.”

These lyrics at the start of “**it gets better” set up an anthemic and rousing chorus to come. Meanwhile, they remind us that whatever emotions we might feel quite often exist only in our singular and personal experience and interpretation of the available stimulus.
It has been said that although we may not be able to change out circumstances, we are able to change our response to those circumstances. Martin Luke Brown’s “**it get’s better” contains the right level of enthusiasm and optimism required to turn that frown upside down without denying the need for setting realistic expectations.
Based on Martin’s own experience writing the song, it seems it was really important to find a balance, which if the single doesn’t do on its own, the new album ‘damn, look at the view !‘ to be released on May 19 just might. About the song’s context within the album, Martin notes:
“The whole album is a big explore into mental health and general sort of coming of age, angst, nostalgia, all of it. I guess ‘**it gets better’ is the simplest in its meaning – I almost imagined my Mum singing it to me. It’s such a hilarious over simplification of mental health, almost like saying ‘don’t worry about it, it’ll blow over’. It’s ironic really, cos I’m not really entirely sure I believe that it does get better for everyone, but it’s nice for people to just feel good and have a boogie. I wanted to have a song on the record that just felt good and hopeful, as if you’ve arrived home after a long time away”.
