Grammy-award-winning and Academy-award-nominated artist, actress, and producer Mary J. Blige has released the summery video for “Come See About Me (feat. Fabolous)” from the deluxe edition of her new studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous. The “Come See About Me” video comes a week after the “Here With Me (feat. Anderson .Paak)” visualizer, and follows the 2022 BET Awards where Blige took home the BET Her Award for “Good Morning Gorgeous”, an award that celebrates motivational and empowering songs that center women.
This love song is nostalgic and timeless in nature, and we can pick up on Blige’s free vibes the moment we press play. In the video, rapper Fabolous greets us with an introduction to the track, adding not only his bright-colored outfits decorated with gold, but also a male perspective to Blige’s intimacy that she details.
“Come come and see about me,” she beckons to the camera. “You know I’m really in a good mood / I bought a coast for you / Match that so we can have two,” she sings in the chorus.
Set in the heat of summer, she majestically poses in a stunning neon pink dress against the ocean sunset. A young man plays her love interest – and we can’t necessarily tell who’s seducing who – but fiery chemistry is apparent, reflective in both the song itself and its video. She even makes a point to show off her brand of wine, Sun Goddess, on this beach date.
The video progresses with shots set on the beach at night (“We bring color to black and white”, Blige sings) where her glittery swimsuit makes her shine in the moonlight against the crashing waves.
Along with the video comes the announcement of Blige’s Apple Music Live performance in New York City on July 13, which will be taped and released on July 27 on the platform.
