“You’ll Never Know” is an excellent opportunity for Vancouver-born and Toronto-based East Indian artist, Neela to reveal the edgy side of soul.
The song unveils an edgy, hurt, and even angry tone alongside a soft and sweetly sung vocal performance. The music is smooth and the groove is infectious. Compared to the likes of Jhene Aiko, Fantasia, and Snoh Alegra, Neela’s music explores R&B, Soul, Pop, Folk, and EDM, infusing various elements into her sound.
“You’ll Never Know” is as much an opportunity to appreciate Neela’s versatility as it is to acknowledge that “Violence against women is prevalent and heart-wrenching,” and Neela uses her own experience to lend a voice to the 4.7 million women that report being sexual assaulted at least once in their lifetime.
Having worked with renowned producer Beatchild and Grammy-winning producer Chin Injeti, Neela is evidence of how powerful a message can be alongside a passionate performance, and we hope her story will inspire others.
