Progressive metal group based out of the DC metro area, Skomucon, recently released their new eight-track album, Ash-Kin in June of 2021. The underground heavy metal band consists of Evan Harris, Gavin McKay, and Kyle Waterman. They are WAMMIE nominated, passionate, confident, and have a unique sound for listeners looking to expand their music library. With a combination of short and long tracks, along with pure instrumental tracks, vocals, and screamo, this album shows just how varied this young band can be!
From start to finish, this album makes the listener feel pumped and ready to take on anything, especially their nearly nine minute song, “Hellfire in the Sky.” Mostly heavy instrumentals and hard rock vocals, this specific song adds exciting and spooky sound effects to really create an immersive experience for the listeners. It has chilling sound effects that make you wonder what could be creeping around. It is likely to give you goosebumps and shivers down your spine in a fun and exhilarating way. This song pairs perfectly with a horror movie night with your friends!
