Always on our radar lately at Alchemical Records, Rockville, Maryland-born and Brooklyn-based, Sleepy Gary has recently released “It’s Your Funeral,” his seventh and final single from his three-dimensional 21 Love Songs project. Despite the dark sounding title, this bedroom pop song about love and complication makes listeners want to get up and dance.
Sleepy Gary, also known as Daniel Feldman, has quite the experience in music from being a member of groups such as Baltimore indie rock band, Yo No Say and one-half of the pop-synth duo Airplane Man with his lifelong friend and creative partner, Tim Sommers (One Love).
“My heart’s never beating in a hurry, cause you ain’t never gonna hurt me, so it’s your funeral.” These lyrics illustrate the complexity of love. There is more to a relationship than just love. The painful reality is that while sometimes relationships work out, it is possible to love someone and scare them away. Whether it is self-sabotage, being overwhelmed, or trying to avoid hurting anybody, these unfortunate situations happen. The journey of love can be a winding road, but it is ultimately up to you to decide what to do with love.
