Born in a small town in North Carolina and raised in the DMV, Spencer Joyce wants listeners to know he is not tied to any one genre in his first electronic single and his most personal song to date, “Self-Taught Love (featuring RONJON)”. Produced by RONJON, this song teaches the audience that not everybody is going to love you…and that is okay!
“This feeling’s hard to view. Self-taught love, wish we could start anew…” and “This isn’t me. What else can I do?” are just some of the captivating lyrics that illustrate how it is fine not to meet all the expectations of others. Loving yourself and trying your best can be very hard at first. With thought provoking lyrics, catchy beat, stellar production, and an overall powerful message, I can see this song being featured in some sort of more adult coming of age film about characters discovering how to love themselves before they are able to love anybody else.
Fans of Sublime, Jimmy Buffet, Ed Sheeran, and Zac Brown Band should definitely check out this genre defying artist. With Spencer Joyce, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
