I had the pleasure of taking part in the world debut of the official “Last Ditch (Stabbing Westward Remix) by Amulet on YouTube earlier today. I’m glad I had a front-row seat for this first release from the band in partnership with their new label Distortion Productions. Originally released last year on Amulet’s debut album House of Black + White, “Last Ditch” is dark and dangerous and the perfect track to receive the remix treatment by Christopher Hall of Stabbing Westward (who just released a new album, Chasing Ghosts).
Amulet’s lead vocalist Stephanie Stryker said of the remix:
“I really wanted to add an electronic element to our music because my love of dark music also includes industrial dance and EBM. Our first album was mostly rock-based. What better way to do that than with remixes from some of my favorite artists!
For Last Ditch, we reached out to Christopher Hall of Stabbing Westward and he graciously agreed to work with us on a remix. We had some back and forth on the direction we were looking for, which was a marriage of electronic dance and rock (something Stabbing Westward is great at).
Christoper whisked himself away with the project and delivered it back to us in perfect form. We had literally no changes, I loved it so much! We’re so grateful to him for the amazing job he did on this track.”
The track has already debuted on dance floors around the country and is now available on the music streaming platform of your choice as well as the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
This “Last Ditch” remix joins the Perfect Fusion EP, a collection of reimagininings also features Grendel, unitcode:machine, and The Joy Thieves, among others. The EP is available for pre-order on the Amulet Bandcamp page and releases everywhere on October 28, 2022.
