Darkwave gothic rock band, The Neuro Farm, has released their third album, Vampyre.
The term “vampyrism” refers to a curse that was believed around biblical times. The album’s story tells of a woman who is persuaded to join a vampyric cult with the promise of immortality. Because of the building sense of disillusion, the woman builds her own following. She eventually rejects her maker. She leaves her mortal husband with the rest of humanity, slays her maker in the “midnight massacre,” and declares herself queen.
The album itself utilizes driving guitar, as well as rhythmic sounds that repeat throughout. “Mortal” is a standout track on the album, showcasing hauntingly beautiful guitar riffs and strings, melancholy choral harmonies, and The Neuro Farm’s distinct ability to create an immersive atmosphere with their music. A bewitching and hauntingly beautiful experience, Vampyre illustrates The Neuro Farms’ unique talent.
The Neuro Farm members include Brian Wolff (guitar, vocals), Rebekah Feng (violin, vocals), DreamrD (drums), and Tim Phillips (synth). Live shows include bassist Evan O’Neal.
The D.C.-based band has been nominated for the Best Rock Group by the Washington, D.C. Wammie Awards, and can be heard on many radio stations like WOWD-LP 94.3FM (Washington, D.C.), WMUC 88.1FM (Washington, D.C.), WRIR 97.3FM (Richmond), Subculture Shock (online radio show), and Asalto Mata Radio Rock radio station (Spain).
