LITLIKEVIK has released his new slow jam “NONSTOP” featuring Kenny Trill. With an underlying bass groove that will vibrate in your chest when played in a club setting, this is a perfect song for getting down on the dance floor.
The electronic drum beat pulses with hypnotizing beats that mix perfectly with the more ambient synthesizers. Bouncing around on top of that are the lyrics which are well designed and executed. Modulating between the different rhythmic approaches of the two MC’s, it’s easy to get lost in the dream of a never-ending party with lines like, “Drippin’ nonstop and I feel it in my lungs”.
That sense of hazy fog gives the piece a natural sense of being laid back even though the track is bumpin’. There’s a trance-like quality to the musical composition that is endlessly danceable. You can feel it in your shoulders and hips – the way the bass compels you to groove and sway.
After the opening chorus, the first line of the verse goes “Higher than I’ve ever been before lately” showing how this state of being has no chance of waning any time soon. Charlie Maybee is a dancer, musician, educator, and writer based in Charleston, South Carolina who currently teaches with the Dance Program at the College of Charleston. His primary work as an artist is with his performing collective, Polymath Performance Project, through which he makes interdisciplinary performance art that centers tap dance as the primary medium of expression and research. He also currently plays rhythm guitar for the Charleston-based punk band, Anergy, and releases music as a solo artist under the name Nox Eterna.
