The Shop Window is back with the release of their third single “Eyes Wide Shut” – taken from the forthcoming second album, set for release this summer.
The Shop Window are a four-piece Jangle-pop/Indie-pop guitar band from Maidstone, Kent. Fronted by “partners-in-crime”, Carl Mann and Simon ‘Syd’ Oxlee, and accompanied by Martin Corder (Bass) and Phil Elphee (Drums), The Shop Window has reunited after two decades to release their critically acclaimed debut album, “The State of Being Human” in June 2021.
“Eyes Wide Shut” is a fun, easy-going, and catchy summertime single; the electric guitar leads the entire song and creates a loose energy for the bold and memorable lyrics, making it easy to sing along to. The track is perfect for head-bobbing and riding in the car with the windows down.
“Lyrically ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is about secret crushes; that sense of being a little bit in love with someone from afar but knowing that for one reason or another you’ll never be able to share your secrets,” wrote Oxlee. “It’s feeling the energy of that spark, the excitement of knowing someone is alive and in the world but that it will ultimately never happen. Wondering if they have felt it too and looking for those subtle signs that maybe you’ve connected on some level.”
